The MILK Mailer is a simple packaging solution, designed to distribute sample bottles of a hair care product to potential distributors.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Design a package to deliver a MILK sample and marketing materials to potential retailers using standard post.

  2. Create a memorable unboxing experience to differentiate REVERIE from other cosmetic companies.

  3. Represent REVERIE with a material palette that aligned with their company values.

DEVELOPMENT

This sample mailer was designed around a single internal structure - composed of acrylic and corrugate - that served multiple functions. The acrylic reinforced the cardboard mailer sleeve and the corrugate protected the glass bottle. No additional packing materials such as foam padding were necessary. This created a cleaner unboxing experience while reducing the weight and decreasing shipping costs.

Visual details included laser-etched graphics and a slot to hold the neatly folded marketing materials. The material palette shared that of other MILK designs, such as the Responsive POP display.

RESULTS

  1. The interior structure held the marketing materials and protected the bottle. Additional padding was not necessary, so weight and shipping costs were kept to a minimum.

  2. The interior structure displayed the bottle upon the unboxing experience. The lack of extra materials created an instantaneous reveal. The presentation was unique to REVERIE.

  3. This mailer was made entirely of recycled corrugate and acrylic and was placed inside a cardboard sleeve. These materials were selected because they could be easily recycled. This was important to REVERIE as it aligned with their commitment to natural and safe ingredients.
